What We Paint Inside Your Home

Single rooms, whole floors or the entire house: walls, ceilings, closets, hallways and stairwells. We handle the spaces that make interior work tricky in Northern Virginia homes — the two-story foyers common in newer Loudoun and Prince William colonials, stairwells that need planks and ladders, kitchens with tight cut lines around cabinets, and bathrooms where moisture calls for a scrubbable finish. Typical projects are a color refresh for a home you have lived in for years, a full repaint before you move in or put the house on the market, and a few dated rooms brought in line with the rest. Color help is part of the job: we bring Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore fan decks, talk through sheen room by room, and brush sample patches on the wall before you commit.

How We Prep and Apply

The finish is decided before the first coat. We move furniture to the center of the room and cover it, protect floors and fixtures, and remove outlet covers and switch plates rather than painting around them. We fill and sand nail holes, dings and hairline cracks; larger damage becomes a drywall repair line so it is fixed properly instead of hidden. Glossy, stained and patched areas get spot primer so the new color bonds and the sheen stays even. Then we cut in ceilings, corners and trim by hand and roll two full coats on every wall, checking each one under raking light before moving on. Ceilings first, then walls, then trim, so every edge is crisp. Low-VOC paint keeps the house livable while we work.

What to Expect During the Project

Your crew lead walks the scope with you on the first morning and confirms colors and sheens room by room. A single bedroom is usually finished in a day, including prep and two coats; a full main floor takes several working days, and the schedule is written into your quote before we start. We work room by room so you keep the use of the rest of the house, and we clean up every evening: tools stacked, drop cloths folded, floors swept. When the last coat is dry we walk every room with you, touch up anything you spot, and put furniture and outlet covers back where they were. You keep the leftover paint, labeled by room, for future touch-ups.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most often about this service.

How long does it take to paint the inside of a house?

A single bedroom is usually done in a day, including prep and two coats. A full main floor with ceilings and trim typically takes several working days, and a whole house is scheduled floor by floor. Your written quote includes the schedule, and we work room by room so the rest of the home stays usable.

How many coats of paint do you apply?

Two full coats on every wall and ceiling we paint. Patches, stains and glossy surfaces are spot-primed first so the color and sheen come out even. A dramatic color change — deep navy over white, for example — may need a tinted primer or a third coat, and we tell you that at the walkthrough, not after.

Which paint sheen should I use in each room?

Matte or eggshell for bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms, where a softer look hides small wall imperfections. Satin for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and kids' rooms, because it wipes clean. Semi-gloss for trim and doors. We walk through the choices with you before we order paint, and the sheen for each room is listed in your quote.

Can we live in the house while you paint?

Yes. We use low-odor, low-VOC interior lines from Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore, work one area at a time, and keep the rest of the home clear, so there is no need to move out. Bedrooms are usually ready to sleep in the same night once the second coat has dried.

Do you help with choosing colors?

Yes. Color guidance is part of every interior project: we bring Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore fan decks to the walkthrough, suggest combinations that work with your floors, trim and light, and brush sample patches on the wall. You can also browse both collections on our Colors page or book an in-home color consultation.
