Accessibility Statement
Gold House Painting wants everyone, including people who use assistive technology, to be able to find their local painter, request an estimate and explore colors on this website.
Our commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Accessibility is a requirement for every page we ship, not a feature added later, and we check new pages against these guidelines before they go live.
This statement describes what we have done, where we know we fall short, and how to tell us when something is not working for you.
What we have done
Measures already built into the site include:
- Semantic structure: one main heading per page, landmarks for navigation and content, and a skip-to-content link at the top of every page.
- Keyboard operability: menus, forms, dialogs and the before-and-after slider can all be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- A contrast-checked palette: text and controls on our navy, cream and white surfaces meet the Level AA contrast ratio.
- Descriptive alternative text on informative images, including both halves of every before-and-after pair; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Forms with visible labels, hints and error messages that are linked to their fields and announced to screen readers.
- Multi-step forms that keep your entries when you go back and announce each step's status.
- Maps that load only when you choose, so pages stay fast and predictable.
- Animations that switch off when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Responsive layouts that work on phones, tablets and desktops and support browser zoom.
Compatibility
The site is built with standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript and is designed to work with current versions of major browsers and with common screen readers, screen magnifiers and voice-control software. The estimate request forms also work with JavaScript turned off.
Known limitations
We are aware of the following:
- Third-party maps: once you load a map, its controls come from the map provider and may not be fully accessible. Every office's address, phone number and a text link to directions are always available outside the map.
- Color swatches: the colors on our color pages are digital approximations. Each swatch is labeled with its name and code, so color is never the only way to identify it, but the on-screen shade is not a substitute for a physical sample.
- Before-and-after comparisons are visual by nature; the change is described in each image's alternative text.
- Websites we link to, such as paint manufacturers' color sites, are outside our control.
Tell us what is not working
If you have trouble using any part of this site, or want information in another format, email info@goldhousepainting.com or call (571) 506-6391. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and, if you can, the browser and assistive technology you use. We aim to reply within one business day and to fix genuine barriers as quickly as we can.
You can always request an estimate by phone; no online form is required.
Ongoing work
Accessibility is never finished. We test new pages with keyboard-only navigation, review them against WCAG 2.2 before release, and update this statement when the site changes. This statement does not claim full conformance; it describes our goal and our progress toward it.
