Workmanship Warranty
What our written workmanship warranty typically covers, what it does not, and how to make a claim. The term and conditions for your project are stated in your written agreement.
Your written agreement comes first
This page explains how a Gold House Painting workmanship warranty generally works. The specific term length, covered surfaces and conditions for your project are stated in the written agreement you sign before work begins. If anything on this page differs from your agreement, your agreement applies.
The warranty is for the original customer and property; whether it transfers to a new owner is stated in your agreement.
What the warranty covers
Our workmanship warranty covers defects in how we applied the paint or stain. If a surface we prepared and coated fails because of our workmanship during the warranty period, we repair it at no charge. Covered failures typically include:
- Peeling or flaking of the coating we applied.
- Blistering or bubbling caused by application.
- Chipping or cracking of the coating that is not caused by movement of the surface beneath it.
- Loss of adhesion on surfaces we prepared.
How repairs work
Repair means preparing and recoating the affected area with the same product and color. Because paint weathers and fades, a repaired area may not match the surrounding surface exactly. The warranty covers the repair itself, not repainting of unaffected areas for uniformity.
What it does not cover
The warranty applies to our workmanship, not to the building, the materials or the weather. It does not cover:
- Failure of the surface beneath the coating: rotting wood, rusting metal, crumbling stucco or masonry, failed caulk, or previous coatings we did not apply.
- Water intrusion or moisture from behind the surface — leaks, condensation, failed flashing or gutters, or ground moisture.
- Cracks caused by settling, structural movement, or expansion and contraction of the building.
- Normal wear: fading, chalking, dirt, mildew growth, scuffs, and damage from cleaning, pets, furniture or foot traffic.
- Horizontal and walking surfaces — decks, floors, steps, handrails and windowsills — which take weather and wear that no coating fully resists.
- Paint, stain or materials you supplied, or surfaces you asked us to coat against our written recommendation.
- Damage caused by others, by later repairs or modifications, or by storms, floods, fire or other acts of nature.
- Surfaces we did not prepare or coat under your agreement.
How to make a claim
Contact the office that did your work, or email info@goldhousepainting.com, with your name, the project address, the date of the work, a description of the problem and a few photos. We will review the claim and, if needed, arrange a visit to inspect the surface.
If the failure is covered, we schedule the repair at a mutually convenient time and in suitable weather. If it is not, we explain why and, if you would like, quote the repair separately. Please report a problem as soon as you notice it; waiting can make a small defect worse and may affect coverage.
Manufacturer warranties
Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore products carry their own manufacturer warranties covering the paint itself. Those warranties are separate from ours and are handled by the manufacturer; we will help you with a product claim where we can.
Our satisfaction guarantee
Separately from the warranty, we do not consider a project complete until you have walked it with us and approved the results, and anything you point out during that final walkthrough is addressed before we leave.
